“Its an interesting phenomenon that people are coming out of the woodwork who are fans of the series & yet none of the ratings reflect that fandom. Im interested in the disconnect- from the viewers who are actually watching the shows vs what the Nielsens are registering. Its been theorized that the show was simply too complicated/high brow/serious for a targeted demo, but the network its on SPECIFICALLY caters to an audience who skew older/mature. Im interested in knowing what the pass/fail is considering its not part of the mainstay material they make sure to shovel into your livingrooms, day in & out. So..HUGE outcry for the series; but ratings dont reflect it. Why? An entity specifically creates a network which caters to a target demographic that theyre acticely trying to hook, but show ZERO faith in new shows that have promise but just need a little bit of time to get traction. Really puzzling. Its almost as if they just wanted a hit right away w/o the growing pains. Id guess it MUST be b/c of their past history & pedigree; a lot of things theyve touched HAS turned to automatic gold. But there a many shows that, if they had abandoned it right away based on 1st showing, wouldnt be the cash cow it is now. Anyway, w/o any sort of inside input, its all up to the imagination. But (and this is coming from a VERY biased POV) I believe they really had something to be reckoned w/ in that IP. Even the film version, being lambasted in its reviews, has received another go. And a series doesnt cost hardly as much as a feature. Not even close. I guess it is no longer an industry nor an age of holding ones breath & faith and based business practices. If it doesnt bloom right away, shelf it. Thats understandable, but also sobering & sad. So now, less action more gags.
